Big Lies by Joe Conason, or
Joe Conason punches Anne Coulter

August's book was
MY Story by, armed babe, Amy Fisher
It was shocking. It was revealing.
It was only $1.25 at the used book store.
July's book was Four Plays
Aristophanes
. No, you don't
have to read all four plays, but
you should read The Frogs and Lysistrata.

Perhaps the most macho book of poetry
ever written. Here's the review

March February January
Calling all Nerds,
March's book was The Iliad

but so is Taking Retards to the Zoo.
Read the review here
Hey, you ratbastards,
last Month's book is The Secret History
by Donna Tartt. I hope it doesn't offend any
of you classical Greek scholars out there.
Find out by reading my review

Our first book of 2003 was
The Corrections by Johnathan
Franzen. It's the only book ever dropped
from Oprah's book club. I fished my copy
out of her trash. Read the obscenity filled
review here

2002
December November October
December's book of the month was
The Magic Christian
by Terry Southern
You can check out the review/rant
here Warring: I wrote the review while drunk
and the review might be longer than the book.

Blood Meridian, Or, The
Evening Redness in the West

By Cormac McCarthy
This may just be the best book
that you'll ever read. Here's my
review
October's book was, fittingly enough,
The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley
Jackson. In order to properly review this
book, I traveled over 300 miles and spent
the night in a haunted house. Read about it here

September August
September's pick was...
Fire & Roses
by Nancy Lusignan Schultz
I thought the book was a
little dry. But what do the
members of REM think?
August's book was
The Dress Lodger by Sheri Holman
I recently moderated a lively
discussion of this book that
featured the opinions of several Harry
Potter
fans and my mother.
