World o' Ignorance: Gayle Quinnell Edition

Like pretty much everybody else on the planet, I'd like to think that I base my opinions on solid evidence. Evolution is a fact because I've seen the fossilized remains of an Archaeopteryx, but I have yet to cast my eyes on even a splinter from Noah's Ark. It's that simple. Well, for me, at least it is. Maybe that's why I’ve always been fascinated by why people believe certain things despite the mountain of evidence to the contrary.

A few weeks ago, I spent several hours trying to convince a friend - a very bright young woman - that the Bush Administration did not plan the 9/11 attacks. The whole thing was heartbreaking.

Which brings us to Gayle Quinnell of Shakopee, MN. Gayle is the woman who, last Friday at a McCain rally, insisted that Barack Obama was an Arab. John McCain patiently explained that this was not correct, and Gayle quietly sat down.

So does Gayle still believe that Obama is a secret A-rab? Of course she does!

Check out what has to be the greatest interview with a Reality-Challenged person ever conducted. It’s not often that the tinfoil hat crowd gets their fifteen minutes of fame, but when they do it's always comedy gold!

Look out "Fuck" and "Shit," there's a new four-letter word in town... ARAB!

They never ask these people the obvious question, which is "assuming Obama were an arab or a muslim, why is that a problem?"

We all know the answer is that these people are all flaming bigots and THAT is why arabs and muslims are a problem, but it would be interesting to hear them try to dance around that fact.

Please explain to me how the Bush administration didn't plan the attacks. Like Burroughs said: “A paranoid is someone who knows a little of what's going on.”

Intrestingly enough I remember seeing a documentary where people were put in pet scan machines, and then shown evidance that was fairly solid and contrary to their fixed belief systems. People that were "strict___" would not process this info in the part of the brain responsible for logical thought, but rather (I belive, its been a while) in places for dogmatic moralities and relegion, and usually wouldn't automaticly dismiss it, and not remember what it was a few minutes after being removed from the machine. Science has proved they are just thinking with sand here. On a side note, I actually had some nightmare about running into this lady.. so thanks for that.
